The adhesion test on a coating, paint or other to a substrate is certainly one of the key factors in establishing the quality and duration of the protective layer, especially if it is an insulating and protective coating. To achieve satisfactory results, coatings must adhere to the substrate on which they are applied. There are three different adhesion test procedures to evaluate the resistance of a paint to the substrate in which it has been applied. The cross-cut test also called cross-cutting using cutting blades, a method that uses a stylus or ring on which a gradual weight is applied until the coating is removed from the substrate. Finally, we have the pull-off or pull-off system which consists in carrying out a traction of a platform (Dolly) previously glued to the surface of the coating, the applied force is gradually exerted and monitored until the platform detaches from the surface upon reaching a pressure value.
The ARW-T05 pull-off adhesion tester is a hand-operated hand-held tool that is used to measure the force required to extract a specific test diameter of the coating from its substrate using hydraulic pressure. The pressure is displayed on a digital LCD and represents the adhesion strength of the coating to the substrate using the test method according to ISO 4624 specifications.
